Global Citizenship

At Gymnasium Riedberg, we see ourselves as pioneers in international education. With a clear goal in mind – fostering global citizenship and learning intercultural competencies – we offer our students a world full of opportunities. Our mission is to pave the way for each individual to go abroad and gather valuable experiences that go far beyond traditional classroom teaching.

Lived Bilingualism at GRB

Our unique offering is characterized by vibrant bilingualism. We integrate English not just as a language but as a bridge to other cultures, by offering additional subject lessons in English: Mathematics in grades 5 and 6, Biology in grades 7, 9, 10, and in the upper levels, Geography in grade 8, and Politics & Economics from grade 9 onwards. This optimally prepares our students for the global stage.

A Network Around the World

We open the doors to the world for our students through a series of stays abroad and project trips that lead them to some of the most inspiring places in the world. The vibrant streets of Madrid, Strasbourg's role as the heart of European culture offer unique insights into the diversity of Europe. Each of these cities opens a window to different eras, lifestyles, and ways of thinking. In Athens, our students dive into the cradle of Western civilization, while Bari fascinates with its maritime heritage and the testimonies of Norman and Byzantine culture. London, with its unparalleled mix of history, art, and modern city life, and Rome, the eternal city that enchants with its countless historical treasures, complete our offering. These trips are not only opportunities to learn and practice new languages but also to experience the cultures, traditions, and stories of these extraordinary places up close.

Partner Cities of Frankfurt

Our international program also greatly benefits from partnerships with schools in Frankfurt's partner cities: Lyon, Guangzhou, and Philadelphia. These connections not only offer our students unique insights into these diverse cultures but also strengthen Frankfurt's role as a globally connected metropolis. Through direct exchange with these cities, we foster not only linguistic and intercultural competencies but also build bridges of friendship and understanding that reach far beyond the borders of Frankfurt.

Together for a Strong Europe

Our commitment to a connected, united Europe is underscored by our active participation in the Erasmus+ program. With partnerships in Siracusa, Vaslui, Lyon, Rotterdam, Skørping, and Valencia, we bring our students into direct exchange with peers from different corners of Europe. These projects not only foster an understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity but also strengthen the sense of belonging to a common European identity. Through these Erasmus+ partnerships, we advocate for the idea of a united Europe where education knows no borders and young people act as ambassadors for tolerance, understanding, and cooperation.

Project-based Learning

Our trips are each embedded in a tailor-made project that goes far beyond simple language exchange. These projects are designed to not only improve linguistic skills but also to foster a deeper intercultural understanding and personal competencies such as teamwork and empathy. Through these diverse encounters, we prepare our students to act as cosmopolitan and empathetic individuals in a globally connected world.

Such experiences enable our students to develop valuable skills in an exciting context and forge friendships with peers from around the world. We are proud to offer an exceptionally high number of international projects.

Your opinions and suggestions are important to us. We invite the entire school community to actively participate and collectively shape the future of our international orientation. For more information or suggestions, please feel free to contact Fatih Uzuner at Fatih.Uzuner[at]grb-online.net.
